Village Store
The Village Store, utilizing the principles of fair trade, is our vehicle to help people understand how they can “shop with a conscience” and help others around the world through their purchases.
Set up in our straw bale Educational Building, the Village Store is a “storefront” in which we display crafts, food, clothing, housewares, art and toys from around the globe. Working with certified fair-trade organizations such as Ten Thousand Villages, Equal Exchange and A Greater Gift, we keep a year-round stock of merchandise available for purchase.
We also have begun obtaining products from communities in which our intern alumni are working, therefore capturing the personal stories of the artisans and craftspeople who produce the goods. Read more here about Hope Bolivia Scarves and Village Artisans.
Additionally, we are continually looking to increase the diversity of fair trade items sold at our store and have recently began working with Rangi Mingi Gallery, Women of the Cloud Forest, and Cultural Designs by Kate.
